Love to Honduras
Traveling is always an adventure and this trip was no exception! Our team of 6 - Elyse, Ella, Jennifer, Jillian, Erica, and Ceallaigh trekked all over Honduras spreading photo love for 8 days! We have included some highlights here. We have SO many wonderful stories and memories that we would love to share with you! If you are interested in hearing more (because you are headed to Honduras yourself and want some recommendations, interested in our work, or going on a Print the Love trip, or something else!), let's set up a coffee date! In person or virtually. Email Ceallaigh at ceallaigh@printthelove.org.
When asked about their experience on the trip, here are some responses from the team:
“A Print the Love trip is a way to connect at a deeper level with the country, culture and people you are visiting. It was the most meaningful trip I have been on in a long time.”
“Such a positive and meaningful experience!! Very thought provoking in so many ways. The pictures created a connection we would not otherwise have had with Hondurans.”
“It is just a constant reminder that the smallest gesture can mean so much. I will never forget the excitement on their faces when we handed out the photos.”
“Absolutely go! It is worth experiencing at least once in your life!”
Honduras Trip Highlights:
Honduras is an incredible country - in its people, culture, and natural landscape.
We gave away over 2,000 photos! The joy of giving away photos is profound - both for the giver and the receiver.
We included protectors with each photo, thanks to a donation from UltraPro! So that the photos can last for generations!
In addition to the photos, we gave over 200 custom note cards to school children made by elementary students form Minnesota with the message, "You matter!" written in Spanish.
Over the 8 days on the ground, we stayed in 4 different cities in Honduras - Tegucigalpa, Marcala, Siguatepeque, Pena Blanca - We meet such wonderful people and recommend all the lodging! See links above.
We gave away photos:
At a nursing home
With police escort (our first time!)
At 6 wonderful schools
By boat to local fisherman and their children
At markets where we met and spoke to ladies of the night, men, women, and families
At 2 maternity wards (one that routinely has to help women give birth by cell phone light because of constant power outages)
In remote communities and neighborhoods
In addition, we played soccer with school kids, ate fresh lychee for the first time, stayed on a small organic coffee and citrus farm and learned all about the process, went on a early morning birdwatching tour where we saw toucans and iguanas (Freddy was amazing guide), visited the beautiful Parque El Picacho at night, went on a boat ride, watched the stars by campfire, saw too many spiders!, played with lots of dogs, fell asleep to the sounds of the rainforest, and swam at a private waterfall.
Our wonderful translator, Jennifer, was truly incredible! If you are in need of one while in Honduras, we would happily connect you!
And a HUGE thank you to all our amazing donors who helped make this trip happen!
